Devialet Phantom Ultimate 98 dB Pulse Blue
Devialet has introduced a new exclusive edition of its Phantom Ultimate 98 dB active speaker called Pulse Blue. The new model retains the acoustic architecture and network platform of the standard Phantom Ultimate 98 dB while introducing a distinctive deep-blue finish and redesigned high-gloss side panels.
The launch campaign features Devialet global brand ambassador and Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula 1 driver Isack Hadjar, linking the new edition with themes of precision, speed and focus.
A New Blue Finish with Matte and Mirror-Gloss Surfaces
Pulse Blue is more than a simple color variation. The main enclosure uses an ultra-matte blue finish based on RAL DESIGN 5011, while the side panels adopt a mirror-polished gloss treatment inspired by RAL 5003.
The contrast between matte and reflective surfaces emphasizes the sculptural shape that has defined the Phantom series since its introduction. Depending on the surrounding light, the side panels create a noticeably different visual character from the regular finishes.
A matching Tree stand in Pulse Blue is also available, allowing the speaker and stand to be configured as a visually unified system.
18Hz Bass from a 4.3kg Enclosure
The acoustic platform remains unchanged from the existing Phantom Ultimate 98 dB. The system combines a single aluminum-dome full-range driver with two laterally opposed aluminum-dome woofers.
Total amplification power is rated at 400W, while maximum output reaches 98dB SPL at 1 meter. Frequency response is specified at 18Hz to 25kHz, ±6dB.
Those figures are particularly notable given the speaker’s compact dimensions of 157 x 168 x 219mm and a weight of just 4.3kg.
Devialet’s proprietary technologies remain central to the design. These include ADH Next-Gen, the company’s Analog Digital Hybrid amplification architecture, SAM (Speaker Active Matching) for real-time control of driver behavior, HBI (Heart Bass Implosion) for low-frequency reproduction, and AVL (Adaptive Volume Level) for dynamic tonal management.
The platform also incorporates Devialet ASIC processing, DAC Magic Wire technology and the company’s DOS 3 operating system.
Up to 24-bit/192kHz with Roon Ready and Qobuz Connect
Phantom Ultimate 98 dB also functions as a complete network audio endpoint. It supports digital playback up to 24-bit/192kHz and integrates a broad range of streaming and network protocols.
Supported services and protocols include AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and UPnP. The speaker is also Roon Ready and supports RAAT, allowing it to be used directly as an endpoint within a Roon-based system without an external streamer.
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5 with 2×2 MIMO and wired Ethernet. Two Phantom Ultimate 98 dB units can be paired through the Devialet app for stereo playback, while Bluetooth and Audirvāna support are also included.
With its DAC, amplification, network playback platform and loudspeaker system integrated into a single enclosure, Phantom Ultimate sits closer to a complete all-in-one hi-fi system than a conventional powered speaker.
Pulse Blue does not introduce a new acoustic generation, but instead extends the current Phantom Ultimate platform further into the luxury and lifestyle category.
An F1-Inspired Design Direction
Devialet has positioned the Pulse Blue edition around its relationship with Formula 1 through Isack Hadjar. The company associates the new finish with precision, speed and the intense concentration demanded by motorsport.
The mirror-gloss side panels also reinforce this theme, bringing a surface treatment that evokes the highly finished bodywork and engineered materials commonly associated with high-performance automotive design.
Since the original Phantom was introduced in 2015, the range has become one of Devialet’s defining product families, combining compact dimensions with unusually high output and deep bass extension. The latest Phantom Ultimate generation has expanded that concept further with support for Roon Ready, Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect and Google Cast, broadening its role within modern network audio systems.
