Yamaha R200A Refreshes the Entry-Level Stereo Receiver After a Decade

    Yamaha R200A

Yamaha has introduced the R200A, a new two-channel stereo receiver designed to replace the long-running R-S202. Rated at 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms, the R200A combines an MM phono input, subwoofer output, Bluetooth Multipoint and A/B speaker switching in a straightforward entry-level hi-fi package.

Priced at $299.95 in the U.S., the R200A is scheduled to go on sale in November 2026.

A Traditional Stereo Receiver in a Streaming-Heavy Market

Unlike Yamaha’s network-focused receivers, the R200A does not revolve around Wi-Fi, integrated streaming services or HDMI connectivity. Instead, it follows a more traditional stereo receiver formula built around turntables, analog sources, radio and Bluetooth playback.

The amplifier is rated at 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms, with A/B speaker outputs allowing two pairs of speakers to be connected. A dedicated subwoofer output is also included for users who want to expand a conventional stereo setup into a 2.1-channel system.

Yamaha has also revised the speaker terminals with new binding posts intended to provide a more secure connection.

    Revised Chassis and Grounding Design

Yamaha R200A is not simply a feature update to the R-S202. Yamaha says the new model uses a redesigned center-beam chassis structure intended to reduce unwanted vibration and improve signal integrity.

The company has also revised the grounding layout, component selection and heat-sink design. According to Yamaha, these changes are intended to bring more of the brand’s traditional hi-fi engineering approach into its entry-level receiver range, with greater emphasis on dynamics and spatial presentation.

    Phono Input and Bluetooth Multipoint

A built-in MM phono input allows a turntable to be connected directly without the need for an external phono stage. Bluetooth Multipoint is also supported, allowing two Bluetooth source devices to remain paired and making it easier to switch between them.

An integrated AM/FM tuner provides storage for up to 40 station presets.

Rather than trying to include every modern streaming feature, the R200A focuses on the core functions needed for a simple two-channel music system built around vinyl, legacy source components, radio and wireless playback from a phone or tablet.

    The Successor to the R-S202

The R200A officially replaces Yamaha’s R-S202, which has served as one of the company’s most accessible stereo receivers for roughly a decade.

That makes the new model more significant than a routine product refresh. While Yamaha’s higher-end R-N series continues to emphasize MusicCast, network streaming and high-resolution playback, the R200A takes a deliberately simpler route.

For listeners who do not need integrated network streaming, it offers a relatively direct way to build a traditional stereo system around a turntable, source component and passive speakers.

The Yamaha R200A will be available in black and silver finishes, priced at $299.95 in the U.S., with availability scheduled for November 2026. International pricing and availability have yet to be announced.

  • ESOTERIC F-Series Goes Black with F-01, F-02 and PS-01F Black Editions

ESOTERIC F-Series Goes Black with F-01, F-02 and PS-01F Black Editions

    Esoteric F-01, F-02 Black Editions

ESOTERIC has added new Black Edition versions of the F-01 and F-02 integrated amplifiers, together with a matching PS-01F external power supply. These are not new-generation models with revised circuitry or higher output figures. Instead, the existing F-Series architecture is retained while the exterior is reworked with a black anodized finish and matching surface treatment.

The F-Series sits near the top of ESOTERIC’s integrated amplifier lineup, bringing technologies developed for the company’s Grandioso X Edition components into a single-chassis design. The F-01 focuses on Class A operation, while the F-02 delivers significantly higher power from the same broader platform.

    Class A F-01 and Higher-Power F-02

The F-01 Black Edition delivers 30W per channel into 8 ohms and 60W into 4 ohms in Class A operation.

The F-02 Black Edition increases output to 120W per channel into 8 ohms and 240W into 4 ohms.

Both models use bipolar output transistors in a three-parallel push-pull configuration and employ dual-mono rectification and smoothing stages for the left and right channels.

Power is supplied by a 940VA EI-core transformer, with four 10,000μF capacitors per channel used in the smoothing stage. The two amplifiers share the same 445 x 191 x 471mm chassis, with the F-01 weighing 32.2kg and the F-02 32.4kg.

Preamplifier Design Derived from Grandioso C1X

The preamplifier section in both models draws on technology developed for ESOTERIC’s Grandioso C1X.

A fully balanced dual-mono topology is used, with three ES-Link Analog / XLR inputs alongside conventional RCA inputs. Volume control is handled by ESOTERIC’s UFA-1792 Ultra Fidelity Attenuator, which provides extremely fine adjustment, including up to 1,120 steps when the preamp gain is set to +12dB.

The amplifiers also include a dual-mono MM/MC phono stage, a 4-pin XLR balanced headphone output and a 6.3mm single-ended headphone output.

Preamp outputs are provided via ES-Link Analog and XLR, allowing the F-Series amplifiers to be integrated into larger systems with external power amplifiers if required.

Matching PS-01F Black Edition External Power Supply

The matching PS-01F Black Edition is designed to power the preamplifier section of either the F-01 or F-02 independently from the amplifier’s main internal supply.

Inside is a 200VA toroidal transformer and a pair of 27,200μF smoothing capacitors. The unit connects to the amplifier using a dedicated DC cable.

ESOTERIC positions the concept as being related to the separate-power-supply architecture used in the Grandioso C1X, isolating the preamplifier circuitry from the main amplifier power stage.

As with the amplifiers, the Black Edition version does not introduce a new electrical design. Its purpose is to provide a visually matched external supply for the black F-Series components.

A Finish Update Rather Than a Circuit Revision

The key point with the new Black Editions is appearance rather than circuit development.

The F-01 and F-02 retain the same core architecture and specifications as the current F-Series models first introduced in 2023. The new versions extend ESOTERIC’s black-finish option into the company’s upper-level integrated amplifier lineup.

ESOTERIC has already offered black-finish versions of selected digital components such as the K-01XD SE and K-03XD SE. Adding the F-Series amplifiers and PS-01F makes it possible to build a more visually consistent all-black ESOTERIC system from source component to amplification.

The F-01 Black Edition, F-02 Black Edition and PS-01F Black Edition are scheduled to become available worldwide from October 2026.

  • TIDAL x BUGATTI MA1 Debuts as a 1,500W Reference Monoblock

TIDAL x BUGATTI MA1 Debuts as a 1,500W Reference Monoblock

    TIDAL x BUGATTI MA1

Three 1,000VA toroidal transformers, 800,000µF of power-supply capacitance and a 110kg chassis define TIDAL’s new flagship amplifier

TIDAL Audio has unveiled the TIDAL x BUGATTI MA1, a new reference monoblock power amplifier developed in collaboration with Bugatti. Positioned as the successor to the Assoluta Monobloc, the MA1 joins the TIDAL x BUGATTI Royale collection and represents the latest expression of TIDAL’s flagship amplification platform.

Rather than functioning as a cosmetic collaboration, the MA1 is built around a very large linear power supply, high-current output capability and an extensively engineered mechanical structure. Each channel uses a dedicated monoblock chassis.

    420W Into 8 Ohms, 1,500W Into 2 Ohms

The MA1 is rated at 420W into 8 ohms, 840W into 4 ohms and 1,500W into 2 ohms.

That near-doubling of output as impedance falls is intended to provide substantial current delivery for demanding loudspeaker loads. TIDAL specifies a frequency response extending from 1Hz to more than 250kHz at -0.5dB.

The power supply uses three 1,000VA toroidal transformers, with magnetic shielding and mechanical decoupling. The two amplification modules are fed by linear power supplies, while total stabilized capacitance reaches 800,000µF.

TIDAL says the supply is designed to maintain stable voltage and current delivery under heavy transient loads while minimizing ripple and noise.

Symmetrical Architecture and DC-Coupled Signal Path

The MA1 uses a symmetrical circuit topology with actively regulated power supplies.

Its signal path is DC-coupled from input to output, with no coupling capacitors or relays placed directly in the audio path. Low-impedance capacitors are positioned close to the output devices to keep signal and power paths short.

The multilayer circuit boards use 105µm copper on each layer, while output transistors are individually measured and matched to within 1 percent.

The design emphasis is therefore not only on maximum power, but also on maintaining consistent operating conditions, low impedance and high current capability throughout the amplifier.

Protection Outside the Audio Signal Path

TIDAL’s APM, or Amplifier Protection Management, operates outside the direct signal path.

The system continuously monitors current relative to output voltage, short-circuit conditions, DC offset, undervoltage and overvoltage. A soft-start system is also included to control the initial current surge from the large power supply.

When used with compatible TIDAL preamplifiers, the MA1 can also be remotely powered through an RJ45 Ethernet connection. Standby consumption is specified at less than 1W.

    110kg Chassis with Bugatti Customization

    The MA1 measures 690 × 520 × 410mm and weighs 110kg per amplifier.

Its chassis uses large aluminum structures and internal bracing intended to improve mechanical rigidity and control resonance. As part of the TIDAL x BUGATTI series, buyers can also specify customized exterior colors and decorative insert materials.

The version shown at launch combines high-gloss carbon fiber with a high-gloss Midnight Blue finish, while the Bugatti emblem is integrated into the upper surface.

    TIDAL’s New Flagship Power Amplifier

The collaboration between TIDAL and Bugatti began with the Royale loudspeaker project in 2020. Since then, the two companies have continued to develop products around the idea of bespoke ultra-high-end engineering across both automotive and audio design.

The MA1 extends that partnership further into electronics while also serving as a new reference amplifier within TIDAL’s own lineup.

Its combination of 420W into 8 ohms, 1,500W into 2 ohms, 3,000VA of transformer capacity and 800,000µF of power-supply capacitance makes low-impedance drive capability one of the defining technical themes of the design.

Pricing and detailed availability for the TIDAL x BUGATTI MA1 have not yet been announced.

  • Marantz MCR 60n Combines CD, Streaming and HDMI in a Compact Hi-Fi System

Marantz MCR 60n Combines CD, Streaming and HDMI in a Compact Hi-Fi System

    Marantz MCR 60n

Marantz has introduced the new MCR 60n, a compact all-in-one hi-fi system combining a CD player, HEOS network streaming, HDMI eARC, MM phono input and Bluetooth in a single chassis.

Rather than operating simply as a traditional mini system, the MCR 60n expands the format for modern listening. It supports high-resolution network playback, Roon Ready integration, AirPlay 2, subwoofer output, bi-amping and Speaker A/B operation, making it suitable for users who want to connect a TV, turntable, CD collection and streaming services to one compact system.

    Marantz MCR 60n

CD and Streaming in One Compact Component

At the heart of the MCR 60n is a slot-loading CD player combined with HEOS-based network streaming.

The unit supports CD and CD-R/RW playback, including discs containing MP3 and WMA files. Through HEOS, users can access major streaming services, while Spotify Connect, TIDAL, AirPlay 2 and internet radio are also supported.

Roon Ready compatibility allows the MCR 60n to be integrated into systems built around Roon for managing local music libraries and streaming services.

Marantz is positioning the MCR 60n as a compact solution for listeners who want to combine multiple source formats without building a system from several separate components.

Up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD 11.2MHz

High-resolution playback support is extensive for a system of this size.

Through USB and network playback, the MCR 60n supports PCM files up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD up to 11.2MHz.

Supported lossless formats include FLAC, WAV and ALAC, while gapless playback is available with formats including FLAC, WAV and DSD.

HEOS also enables multi-room playback with other compatible Marantz and HEOS products, allowing several rooms to be controlled from a single app.

    Marantz MCR 60n

65W per Channel into 4 Ohms

The built-in amplifier delivers 65W per channel into 4 ohms, for a total rated output of 130W across two channels.

The MCR 60n provides Speaker A/B outputs and supports bi-amping with compatible loudspeakers.

A subwoofer pre-out and Main Pre Out are also included, allowing the system to be expanded with a subwoofer or external power amplifier rather than being limited to a basic two-channel configuration.

    HDMI eARC Connects the TV

The MCR 60n also addresses the growing role of television in modern two-channel audio systems.

An HDMI eARC input allows TV audio to be sent directly to the Marantz, making it possible to use conventional passive loudspeakers for television, movies and gaming without requiring an AV receiver or soundbar.

Optical digital and analog inputs are also provided, alongside Bluetooth wireless playback and Bluetooth headphone transmission.

This makes the MCR 60n suitable not only for music listening but also as the central audio hub for a living-room entertainment system.

    MM Phono Input for Turntables

Analog sources remain part of the design.

The MCR 60n includes an MM phono input, allowing a compatible turntable to be connected without requiring a separate phono preamplifier.

The phono input is specified at 2.5mV/47kΩ with a signal-to-noise ratio of 74dB.

By including both CD and vinyl alongside network streaming and TV connectivity, Marantz is clearly targeting listeners who continue to use physical media while also adopting modern streaming services.

    Dirac Live Upgrade Support

One of the more notable features of the MCR 60n is support for an optional Dirac Live upgrade.

Room correction is still relatively unusual in compact CD-based systems, and its inclusion gives users the ability to address the interaction between loudspeakers and the listening room more directly.

Combined with subwoofer output, bi-amping and Speaker A/B operation, Dirac Live support gives the MCR 60n greater system flexibility than its compact dimensions might initially suggest.

A Modern Interpretation of the Compact Hi-Fi System

Marantz has a long history of compact CD receiver systems, including its Melody series.

The MCR 60n continues that tradition while updating the concept for current listening habits by adding high-resolution network streaming, Roon, HDMI eARC, phono connectivity and room-correction capability.

While many modern all-in-one systems have moved almost entirely toward streaming, the MCR 60n retains both CD and vinyl connectivity while adding contemporary network-audio functions.

That combination should make it particularly appealing to listeners who want to keep existing physical media collections while simplifying their overall system.

    US Price Set at $1,000

The Marantz MCR 60n is priced at $1,000 in the United States.

The US model is offered in black, while selected markets also receive an MCR 60n DAB version with DAB/DAB+ radio and a choice of Black or Champagne Gold finishes.

    The chassis measures approximately 280 × 303 × 111mm and weighs around 4.2kg.

With CD playback, turntable support, streaming, TV connectivity and amplification integrated into one compact chassis, the MCR 60n represents Marantz’s modern interpretation of the traditional compact hi-fi system.

  • Naim Expands CI-Uniti 102 Beyond Custom Installation with New Accessory Pack

Naim Expands CI-Uniti 102 Beyond Custom Installation with New Accessory Pack

Naim Audio has introduced a new Accessory Pack for the CI-Uniti 102 streaming amplifier, making the compact custom-installation model easier to use in a conventional home audio environment.

The CI-Uniti 102 was originally developed for rack-mounted and professional installation applications, but the new accessory package adds a dedicated remote control and four feet, allowing the unit to sit naturally on a shelf or hi-fi rack.

Although the accessory package itself is simple, the announcement is more significant because it broadens the role of the CI-Uniti 102 beyond the custom-installation market and positions it more clearly as a compact streaming amplifier for domestic hi-fi systems.

Bringing the CI-Uniti 102 Out of the Rack

The CI-Uniti 102 is part of Naim’s CI Series and was designed from the outset for professional installers and integrated home-audio systems.

Its compact chassis measures approximately 30cm wide, 30cm deep and 4.45cm high, making it particularly suitable for technical racks, multi-room systems and installations built around Focal in-wall or in-ceiling loudspeakers.

The new Accessory Pack allows the CI-Uniti 102 to move beyond that environment and be used more like a conventional hi-fi component in a living room or dedicated listening space.

The package includes four dedicated feet and a remote control. The feet allow the amplifier to be placed securely on furniture or a hi-fi rack while maintaining airflow underneath the chassis.

Dedicated Remote for Conventional Hi-Fi Use

The CI-Uniti 102 was originally intended to be controlled primarily through the Focal & Naim app or integrated automation platforms such as Crestron, Control4, RTI, Savant and Elan.

The remote control included with the Accessory Pack gives users a more direct way to operate the unit without relying on a smartphone, tablet or home-automation controller.

Key functions such as volume, mute and presets can be accessed directly, making the CI-Uniti 102 feel much closer to a traditional integrated amplifier in everyday use.

150W Streaming Amplifier with HDMI eARC and Dante

The CI-Uniti 102 itself offers specifications that are highly competitive with dedicated home streaming amplifiers.

Its built-in power amplifier delivers 150W per channel into 8 ohms and 260W per channel into 4 ohms, with THD+N specified at below 0.006%.

The unit supports streaming up to 32-bit/384kHz and includes Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.

Supported services and protocols include Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, UPnP and internet radio.

Inputs include HDMI eARC, S/PDIF, RCA analog and Bluetooth, while Dante network audio reception is also supported.

In addition to speaker outputs, the CI-Uniti 102 provides independent stereo RCA Main and Sub/Aux outputs, and the system can be expanded with Naim CI-NAP 108 or CI-NAP 101 power amplifiers.

2.1 System Configuration Through the Focal & Naim App

The CI-Uniti 102 can also be configured for domestic systems through the Focal & Naim app.

The Home mode provides a four-band EQ and allows crossover settings to be configured between the Main and Aux outputs.

This makes it possible to build a 2.1-channel system using a pair of main loudspeakers and a subwoofer without requiring an external crossover processor.

Naim particularly emphasizes integration with Focal loudspeakers, but the CI-Uniti 102 can also be used with conventional passive speakers, making its potential applications broader than its original custom-installation positioning might suggest.

From Custom-Installation Uniti to Domestic Streaming Amplifier

The most interesting aspect of the Accessory Pack is not the addition of feet and a remote control, but the change in how Naim is positioning the CI-Uniti 102.

The product was originally designed without a traditional front-panel display or conventional volume control, reflecting its professional installation origins.

However, with 150W per channel into 8 ohms, HDMI eARC, Wi-Fi 6, Dante, extensive streaming support and flexible 2.1-channel configuration, the CI-Uniti 102 already has many of the features expected from a modern domestic streaming amplifier.

The new Accessory Pack makes those capabilities more accessible to users who do not need a professionally integrated control system.

Rather than creating an entirely new Uniti model, Naim is effectively extending an existing CI platform into the conventional home-audio market.

A Small Accessory with a Broader Purpose

With the Accessory Pack, Naim is giving the CI-Uniti 102 a role that extends beyond technical racks and custom-installation systems.

By retaining its professional integration features while adding a remote control and conventional desktop installation, the CI-Uniti 102 now sits more naturally between custom-installation electronics and traditional hi-fi streaming amplifiers.

It is a relatively small hardware addition, but one that significantly broadens how and where the CI-Uniti 102 can be used.

Burr-Brown 32-bit/192kHz solutions are used for the DAC and ADC, with support for FLAC, AIFF, ALAC and WAV files at up to 32-bit/192kHz. MP3 playback is supported at up to 48kHz/320kbps and AAC at up to 96kHz/320kbps, while local files can also be played from UPnP/DLNA media servers and USB storage devices.

Streaming support includes Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect, alongside Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. Network connectivity is provided through dual-band Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet, while Bluetooth 5.1 supports aptX HD, AAC and SBC codecs.

Support for physical media is another major feature of the R710. A slot-loading CD mechanism is located behind the wooden slats on the front panel and supports Red Book CD-DA discs as well as CD-R. The RCA input also incorporates an MM phono stage, allowing a turntable with a moving-magnet cartridge to be connected directly without an external phono preamplifier.

For television connectivity, the R710 provides HDMI ARC/eARC as well as an optical digital input supporting PCM up to 24-bit/96kHz. Other connections include RCA line input, selectable line output/pre-out, mono subwoofer output, 3.5mm headphone output and USB-C. Speaker connections use gold-plated 4mm multi-way binding posts.

The front panel features a 6.8-inch color TFT display with automatic brightness adjustment, accompanied by Ruark’s signature RotoDial controller and a rechargeable wireless remote control. The main unit measures 375 × 105 × 310mm and weighs 6.6kg. UK pricing is £2,199, with sales targeted to begin in October.

The Return of the 1990 Talisman

The Talisman-R also carries particular significance in Ruark’s history. The original Talisman was introduced in 1990 and played an important role in establishing the company’s reputation, with its slim proportions and distinctive angled baffle. The new Talisman-R retains that visual identity while introducing newly developed drivers, enclosure construction and crossover design.

The speaker is a two-way bass-reflex floorstander using a 27mm silk-dome tweeter and a 165mm NS+ long-throw woofer. The tweeter employs a neodymium motor, while the woofer uses a treated fibre cone, a 35mm two-layer copper voice coil and a strontium ferrite motor system.

A newly developed decoupled front-baffle structure is also used. The driver-mounted baffle is mechanically isolated from the main cabinet through elastomer bushes and dual damping strips. Internal bracing and composite acoustic damping materials are employed to reduce cabinet resonances and standing waves. The 14.5-litre enclosure uses a dual-flared bass-reflex port tuned to 42Hz.

The crossover frequency is 2.2kHz, using second-order filters, audio-grade film capacitors and low-loss inductors. Frequency response is specified at 40Hz–22kHz under typical in-room conditions, with a sensitivity of 87dB/2.83V/1m. Nominal impedance is 6Ω, with a minimum impedance of 3.8Ω at 5kHz, while recommended amplifier power is 50–250W.

Each speaker measures 850 × 210 × 250mm and weighs 17.6kg. Dual gold-plated binding posts support both single-wiring and bi-wiring, and removable magnetic grilles are included. UK pricing is £1,499 per pair, with availability planned for September.

From All-in-One Audio Back to a Complete Hi-Fi System

What makes the combination of the R710 and Talisman-R particularly interesting is the way it reconnects Ruark with its own history. Founded in 1986, Ruark began as a specialist loudspeaker manufacturer before establishing a distinctive position in the radio and all-in-one audio market through its R Series. More recently, the company returned to passive loudspeakers with the Sabre-R, and the Talisman-R now revives the name of one of its best-known early floorstanding models.

The R710 also has more in common with a traditional hi-fi system than a conventional lifestyle audio product. It combines 200W × 2 amplification and passive loudspeaker outputs with an MM phono stage and CD player, while also integrating Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay and Google Cast. Paired with the Talisman-R, it allows an entire two-channel system—from source and amplification to loudspeakers—to be built exclusively from Ruark components.

Meanwhile, Ruark has also been rolling out a free OTA update for its 100 Series products, including the R410, R610, R710 and R810, adding Bluetooth headphone output. Up to six wireless Bluetooth devices can be paired, with headphone volume stored independently from the main system volume.

    McIntosh Unveils CS7500 Streaming Preamplifier

    McIntosh CS7500

McIntosh has introduced the new CS7500 Streaming Preamplifier, combining network streaming with a full-featured analog preamplifier, DAC, phono stage and TV connectivity in a single chassis. It preserves the flexibility of a traditional separates-based hi-fi system while allowing one component to handle most analog and digital source duties.

McIntosh officially announced the CS7500 on August 26, 2026. As streamer, DAC and preamplifier combinations continue to establish themselves as a distinct category in high-end audio, the CS7500 represents McIntosh’s interpretation of this increasingly popular system architecture.

    McIntosh CS7500

A McIntosh Preamplifier with Integrated Streaming

The defining feature of the CS7500 is the integration of network streaming directly into the preamplifier. It supports Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect, along with Apple AirPlay, Google Cast and Bluetooth. The unit is also both Roon Ready and Roon Tested.

Spotify Connect includes support for Spotify Lossless, while TIDAL Connect supports TIDAL Max. Music can therefore stream directly from the services to the CS7500 while a smartphone or tablet acts primarily as the controller, eliminating the need for a separate network transport in many systems.

Bluetooth connectivity supports AAC as well as Qualcomm aptX HD and aptX Adaptive, providing additional options for playback from mobile devices alongside wired and Wi-Fi network streaming.

The CS7500 is not an all-in-one amplifier with onboard power amplification. Instead, it combines the preamplifier, streamer and DAC while keeping the power amplifier separate. Owners remain free to choose the power amplifier and loudspeakers that best suit their system and upgrade them independently over time.

    McIntosh CS7500

    8-Channel 32-Bit Quad Balanced DAC

The digital section is built around McIntosh’s Quad Balanced 8-channel, 32-bit DAC architecture, using multiple DAC channels in a balanced configuration to achieve wide dynamic range and low distortion.

The USB input supports PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz, along with native DSD512 and DXD up to 384kHz. The coaxial and optical inputs support PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz, while McIntosh’s MCT connection handles 16-bit/44.1kHz from CD and DSD64 from SACD.

With six analog inputs and seven digital inputs in total, the CS7500 can serve as the central connection point for music servers, computers, disc transports, televisions and a wide range of other sources.

    HDMI ARC Integrates TV Audio

The CS7500 also includes an HDMI ARC input, allowing a television to connect to the two-channel audio system through a single HDMI cable.

Dolby and DTS multichannel formats can be converted to two-channel audio, making it possible to reproduce movies, concert videos, sports and other television content through the main stereo system without requiring a separate AV receiver. The feature reinforces the CS7500’s role as more than a dedicated music streamer, extending its reach into the broader living-room entertainment system.

Six Analog Inputs and MM/MC Phono

Despite its extensive digital capabilities, the CS7500 remains a fully equipped analog preamplifier. Its six analog inputs consist of two balanced XLR connections, three unbalanced RCA inputs and a dedicated phono input.

The phono stage supports both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges, with selectable gain settings of 40, 46, 52, 58 and 64dB to accommodate cartridges with different output levels.

Outputs include two pairs of balanced variable outputs, two pairs of unbalanced variable outputs and one fixed unbalanced output. The second balanced and unbalanced variable outputs can be assigned to bass reinforcement, allowing the use of either a single subwoofer or a pair of stereo subwoofers in 2.1- or 2.2-channel systems.

A 6.35mm headphone output is also provided on the front panel and incorporates McIntosh’s HXD Headphone Crossfeed Director technology.

A Contemporary Interpretation of Classic McIntosh Design

The exterior retains the elements closely associated with McIntosh, including the black glass front panel, illuminated green logo, precision rotary controls and a pair of iconic blue meters.

The chassis introduces a more contemporary treatment. The lower section uses mirror-polished stainless steel, while the upper chassis is constructed from hairline-brushed black titanium stainless steel. Custom-machined brushed end caps and an elevated chassis design further distinguish the CS7500 from more traditional McIntosh components.

    Dimensions are 444.5 × 152 × 432mm (W×H×D) and weight is approximately 11.3kg.

Designed to Become the Center of a Modern Separates System

The CS7500 reflects a broader change in high-end digital audio. Network transports, DACs and preamplifiers were traditionally purchased as separate components, but increasingly these functions are being consolidated while power amplification remains separate.

Rather than simply being a conventional preamplifier with streaming added, the CS7500 is effectively a system hub combining an analog preamplifier, network player, DAC, phono stage and HDMI interface. For existing McIntosh power amplifier owners in particular, it offers a way to add modern network playback without requiring separate streamer and DAC components.

The McIntosh CS7500 is priced at $12,500 in the United States and C$17,750 in Canada.
